BePackingTheWorldYo: Vegas Conference Regrets

Heyyy, it’s mee BeWorkingTheWorldYo!

I’m fresh off my second work conference in Las Vegas in my new Business Development role, and let me tell you—this last trip was one of the most fun weeks I’ve had at work! We celebrated a huge win (more on that later!), but I couldn’t help but be disappointed in my packing choices. Queue inspiration for this BePackingTheWorldYo post!

I was too focused on my networking strategy, but trust me, my feet and your bag are just as important – especially considering I was 6 months pregnant this go around! Below is my hard-won advice for the ideal work conference packing list – Vegas style, followed by a highlight reel of the good times.

Must-Haves for Thriving at a Vegas Business Conference

1. The Right Footwear is a Non-Negotiable Necessity

You will walk a TON at conferences. I tried my Vivia Walking Loafers, but they didn’t hold up against the hot Las Vegas weather and my inevitably swollen feet. Here’s what I’d recommend instead:

  • Flat, Clean Sneakers: These are definitely in style and comfier than dress shoes, but even they can leave your feet aching by day two.

  • Comfy insoles: Helps provide extra support.

  • Nighttime Relief: Bring comfortable shoes to change into at night. Let those toes breathe!

P.S. Turns out the Vivia Walking Loafers are washable, so I gave it a whirl—and wow. Massive black scuffs? Gone. Kicking myself for not snapping before/after pics for you. #skeptical

2. A Hands-Free Bag is a Pro Move

Let’s be real, dresses and slacks rarely have pockets to store everything you want. Whether you’re working a booth or just can’t be bothered with a big purse, a smaller, hands-free option is absolutely key.

Plus, who wants to lug around a giant work tote at night? Nobody, that’s who. Here’s what I’d recommend instead:

  • Small Satchel: Seriously, just act like you’re heading out for a night with your crew! Grab that designer or sparkly purse and get ready to, well, maybe party all night long.

  • Belt Bag: After watching my event manager rock hers, I immediately regretted not packing my knock-off Lululemon belt bag. It would’ve been perfect for stashing my phone, ID, and lip balm while keeping my hands free for shaking…hands 😉

  • Phone Strap Purses: Okay, my personal versions are decidedly not cool—I usually default to lanyards for concerts after I had my phone stolen once. But I know there are a ton of cute, work-appropriate ones on the market now that would be a total game-changer.

3. Embrace the Sparkle for Evening Events

This was my biggest miss! I kept the business-casual vibes going all day and night and seriously regretted it. It is definitely kosher to get dressed up for the evening parties. Think sparkly outfits, cocktail dresses, or anything that makes you feel amazing! Don’t feel you have to keep the polo on.

4. A Personal Fan

Upon my return, I instantly bought myself a travel fan. This would have been a lifesaver for my delayed plane ride next to an oversized man and the amazing Pitbull concert to wrap up the conference.

The Highlight Reel: Work-Hard, Play-Hard

SuiteWorld 2025 so much fun because my company announced a big partnership with the conference host! The entire week was a fantastic celebration of hard work and networking.

I hit up the COOLEST work party at the Chéri Rooftop at the Paris Hotel. Under the mini Eiffel Tower, me and a thousand other attendees were getting down to millennial top hits (with some other genres thrown in to keep the crowd happy!). I couldn’t remember the last time I saw a work party have a dance floor get so lit! As a pregnant lady, I was most impressed with the ice cream cart they brought around, though!

My company also sponsored a VIP party at the MINUS 5 Ice Bar and Prohibition 1923—both really fun spots—all before the conference host brought Pitbull to their closing party. It was a week packed with fun and successful networking.
