LiveFromTheWorldYo: Russian River Float

Floating Down The Russian River

Heyyy, it’s me — BeSeeingTheWorldYo! Just got back from an epic day floating down the Russian River!

A lot of people treat a Russian River float trip like an all-day affair with an early start, but my crew wanted something more relaxed. So we rolled up on a holiday weekend Saturday between 1 and 2 PM… and honestly? 10/10 would recommend.

Vibes Stronger Than the Currents

The Russian River water levels were finally high enough this year that we didn’t have to wade through the shallows, like in those brutal drought years. Shout-out to Jordan and Justin for pulling us through the still parts. Floating to Sunset Beach was a breeze!

River Ready: Rafts, Refreshments, and a Minor Relaxation Problem

We packed Justin’s decade-old double raft (still holding strong!), a stash of chips, drinks, and way too much sunscreen before hitting the Russian River. I was rocking my pink cowboy hat — it looked 🔥. But, it totally ruined my chances of laid-back relaxation, even when I attempted to fold up the back. Meanwhile, Justin managed to sneak in a quick snooze. Jealous.

Shuttle Tips & Parking Hacks for Steelhead Beach

When we rolled up, Steelhead Beach’s parking lot was full (no surprise with our late arrival), but a friendly ranger pointed us to El Molino High School nearby. From there, just $5 got us a shuttle to the river drop-in at Steelhead and a pickup at Sunset Beach, just past the bridge. So easy!

The shuttle runs every 30 minutes on the hour, with the last pickup around 6 PM. It creates the perfect 3–5 hour float with minimal planning required.

Pro tip: Steelhead Beach has free pumps to inflate your rafts — but be ready to wait in line, especially during peak times

Our Russian River day trip got even better when we scored a table at Russian River Brewing Co. around 7 PM on a holiday weekend Saturday — a total win! We had a feeling the good vibes would keep rolling, and they totally did.. I’m already dreaming of my next float 💦

Catch you on the next adventure, World Yo Fam! You know I’ll Be Seeing You around!
